Hello,
The TLV320AIC3109-Q1 will meet all of the requirements with the exception of the integrated speaker driver. We'll need to look into an external TPA2005 after the line-out connection of the AIC3109 to achieve the 1W @ 8Ohms output configuration. At the time of this posting, TI does not have an automotive qualified CODEC with integrated 1W driver.
Hi Collin,
Thanks for the quick reply. I had identified that CODEC, but can you comment on the TPA2005 vs say the TAS5411 (other than cost, which I see is less for the TPA2005)?
Thanks,
Bruce
Hello,
TAS5411 is a very good option as well. You mentioned closer to 1W output power so we picked the product with the closest to that value which was the TPA2005.
Actually, it appears that the TPA2005 is not rated above Commerical temp -40C to +85C. Can you please confirm?
Hi Bruce,
There is a -Q1 available as well: https://www.ti.com/product/TPA2005D1-Q1
The DGN package has a Grade 2 Auto temp range:
Device Temperature Grade 2 (DGN package T-suffix): –40°C to +105°C Ambient Operating Temperature Range
OK, yes I had found that in the meantime. For Temperature Grade 1, it looks like the best choice might be the TAS2505-Q1?
Thanks,
Bruce
Agreed. The TPA2005 is a simpler device while the TAS2505 has the desired temperature range and some extra features that could prove interesting.
OK, sorry. One more question. It looks like the TLV320AIC3109-Q1 is only available in Grade 2. Any other CODECs available in Grade 1?
Hi Bruce,
All of our current -Q1 offerings support up to 105C, not the full 125C range. Most OEMs are okay with this as the location is often in the infotainment, E-call, external amplifier, or cabin voice-assist applications which are in-cabin. Unfortunate we don't have exactly what you're looking for but we can confirm these device are high-runners in production automotive systems.
Thanks for the reply. Our application is actually military but we can get waivers. It's easier to get the waiver for +125 than +105. So do you have anything suitable at +125C?
Thanks,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
If you need up to 125C we would need to look into a discrete ADC and DAC/Class-D combo. The PCM1808-Q1 is a popular automotive Audio ADC that is rated for that range. I'm not as directly familiar w/ the Class-D amplifier product offerings, but a digital-input Class-D that's rated to the proper range would be a good fit.
