AIC3254 - Master I2S DOut output

Hi,

I am having troubles getting I2S Dout output from the AIC3254.

I am using (2) of the TLV320AIC3254EVM-K eval boards; one configured as I2S master (driving BClk and WClk and Dout) to the other AIC3254 as I2S slave, (as shown in figure below).

The master uses MCK from the TAS1020, SW2-5 is ON, (low) and I2S bus driving outof J14, so SW2-4 is Off (or high).

The I2S slave, uses MCK and I2S from J14, (via ribbon cable from the master), so SW2-5 and SW2-4 are Off, (or high).

For register configuration, for the master I am using I2S as the primary interface and have set the WClk and BClk as outlputs. I see these 2 clock outputs but not DOut.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Can I get a known-good configuration file (Is2 master) I could load into my master AIC3254 to verify DOut is functional?

Hello Dennis,

Attached is a script for 44.1k WCLK, BCLK=32*FS, MCLK=11.2896MHz, master mode. I'd suggest to check the master first to ensure WCLK and BCLK are correct and check the DOUT pin.

Hi J,
Thank you for your quick reply. I tried your script and it works perfectly. Thank you. I must have had a clock setting wrong.

Question: Your script assumes MClk to be 11.298MHz yet my board's MClk is 4MHz and yet it is working very well with your script. How can that be?

Dennis,

In your board, with 4MHz and the exact same script I sent to you (11.2896MHz) will produce a ~16kHz WCLK, instead of the intended 44.1kHz WCLK. I suggest reading Table 1 of (http://focus.ti.com/lit/an/slaa404c/slaa404c.pdf) for proper divider selection.
