PCM1802: What is the minimum sampling frequency?

Part Number: PCM1802

Hello,

If I look at the PCM1802 datasheet, it says on top page as shown below.

However if I look at the recommended operating conditions on page 4, it says as below.

On page 5, it says 16kHz.

Question

The sampling clock and system clock shown on page 4 as the recommended operating conditions should be opposite(sampling from 32kHz to 96kHz, system clock from 8.192MHz to 49.152MHz), but what is the minimum sampling frequency, 16kHz shown on top page or 32kHz shown on page 4?  Or is it correct, 16kHz is minimum when it's output as master and 32kHz is minimum when it's input as slave?

Best Regards,

Yoshikazu Kawasaki

  • Hi Kawasaki-san,

Your images did not come through but I think I see your confusion. This looks to be an error in the recommended spec table. I tested the device and confirm it operates down to 16kHz, in fact I was actually able to operate it all the way down to 8kHz, so 16kHz should definitely not be a problem.

    Best,

    Zak

  • Hello Zak,

Than you very much for quick reply.

When I was writing this post, I was able to see the images I pasted, but those have disappeared after posted.  I still don't know how to paste the images in this E2E, but it's good to know that you could understand what I meant and PCM1802 supports Fs=16kHz.

    Best Regards,
