AIC111: functional temperature range

Part Number: AIC111
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204, TLV320AIC3100

Hi team,

There are two temperature parameters in AIC111 specification, one is operating free air temperature range: 0 ~ 70 ℃, and the other is functional temperature range: - 15 ~ 85 ℃. How are these two parameters defined and what are the differences? If AIC111 is used at - 15 ℃, what conditions are needed?

  • Hi Amy,

While the AIC111 is still an active and supported device, it's nearly 20 years old and there have been some newer products released since then that may be a better fit.  Can you confirm what the customer is looking to implement?

To directly answer the question, the device will meet the datasheet specified performance in the temperature range of 0-70C and while it will operate without functional issues from -15C - 85C, it will not meet all of the performance metrics.

  • Hi Collin,

    Thanks for your answer.

Our customer requires ADC + DAC + AGC. The power consumption of ADC + DAC + AGC is less than 2mA. Is there any alternative codec?

  • Hi Amy,

We often get requests more in terms of power-consumption versus supply currents.  Take a look at the TLV320AIC3100 if the need the speaker driver, or the TLV320AIC3204 if they do not need the speaker driver and let us know if those are close to their targets.
