PCM1754-Q1: About the FMT pin

Part Number: PCM1754-Q1

Dear team,

My customer's condition is that fs=48k, SOC outputs 32bit data in which 24bit is valid. The customer wants to set 24bit at 1754 side. But when the FMT is set to low, the data format is 16 to 24bit. We hope 1754 can receive 24 bit, but how do we know 1754 receive 24 bit rather than 16bit?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • The device assumes the data is 24-bits.  If BCK=32×fS, then only 16-bits will be latched.  As I2S is a left-justified format, it always latches the most significant bits.  It will latch all 24 bits if you provide BCK=48×fS or 64×fS.

    Thanks,

    Paul
