TAS5421-Q1: Difference of fault register meaning

Part Number: TAS5421-Q1

Hello Team,

Could you please tell me the criteria of triggering below register bit?

Q. 0x01 D2 bit. "A load-diagnostics fault has occurred"

Q. 0x02 D4 bit. "In a fault condition"

Q. 0x02 D5 bit. "Performing load diagnostics"

In the customer situation, they see the both 0x02 D1 and 0x02 D5 bit are triggered.

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hello Kurimoto-san,

When load diagnostics occurs and it detects a fault, the load diagnostics will repeat 5 times when a fault is present (or a large capacitor is present on the output) to verify that the fault is truly present.

Based on this, it sounds like the customer has a fault on the output of the device. However it sounds like this isn't a load diagnostics fault. That means it could be a dc detect, overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, or overtemperature fault.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Robert Clifton
