PCM4204: What should pins DSDCLK, DSD1, DSD2, DSD3, and DSD4 be connected to in Slave mode when they are unused?

Part Number: PCM4204

Hi PADC team!

Question above. Can these I/Os be grounded if they are not being used?

  • Hi Lauren,

The datasheet does not specifically state to do this, or what state the I/O buffers are in when not using DSD mode, but based on the way the EVM treats these pins it should be fine to GND them when not in use in Slave mode.  I state this because there's  logic buffer that drives these pins on the EVM and there's a configuration or two where the buffer is acting as an output while the DSD pins aren't in use so they must be High-Z or there would be a conflict on the board in this condition.

  • Hi Colin,

Thank you! That's what I was thinking as well. Thanks for the confirmation.
