SRC4190: Slave-Slave mode use case

Part Number: SRC4190

Hi,

I have some questions about SRC4190 when it is in Slave-Slave (input and output both slave) mode:

  1. It needs a reference clock (pin RCKI) even if it operates in Slave-Slave mode, right?
  2. What is the requirement of RCKI? (from datasheet it only say min: 128xfs max: 50 MHz)
  3. When in Slave-Slave mode, does RCKI need to be multiply of fs (128xfs/256xfs/512fs)? In this case, the fs is the input or output fs?

Thanks.

  • Hi Gim,

Yes, SRC4190 always requires RCKI and the requirements are as you have described. It needs to be a valid multiple of either the input or the output sample rate, more commonly the output rate because this is generally the port that will have a fixed rate, but it can be either. RCKI does not have to be synchronous with the two ports.

    Best,

    Zak
