PCM1808: I2S timing

Part Number: PCM1808

Hi Sir,

I have a query on I2S timing.

There is a I2S timing figure in the data sheet, but it will be helpful if you can tell us the timing of the arrow points are 1.4V timing or VIH and VIL timing.

Which one?

BTW, please confirm which the wave I attached is correct as wave1~wave3.

Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

There is a footnote in the DS that mentions: "Timing measurement reference level is 1.4 V for input and 0.5 VDD for output. Rise and fall times are from 10% to 90% of the input/output signal swing. Load capacitance of DOUT is 20 pF. t(SCKI) is the SCKI period."

It looks to me like your rise and fall times are well under 20ns so this is good. It is difficult for me to tell exactly what the high and low periods are without using the cursors but these look like good clocks to me. How much series resistance do you have on the clock and data lines? We generally recommend a value between 20-33Ohms.

    Best,

    Zak
