TAS3251: Audio Characteristics (BTL) for 8-Ohm load

Hi there,

I am looking at various TI amplifiers for some loudspeaker designs we are producing, however I notice that in the data sheets the amplifier performance for BTL mode only ever refers to Rl = 4-Ohm. Is it possible to obtain similar data spec's for these conditions with an 8-Ohm loudspeaker/load? For example, the published values in Section 7.7 and Section 7.15.1 of the TAS3251 datasheet.

This information would be most helpful.

Hi Mark,

Datasheet has limited contents that can't cover all customer applications. TAS3251 targets on high power applications so only 2R and 4R data is on datasheet as typical cases.

Usually 8R load have better THD+N, efficiency, ..., than 2R and 4R load.

Could you list out the test conditions/results you would like to know? Maybe I can support some tests manually if I got bench time recently. Thanks!

Hi, Sam,

I get it. If you're able to provide the Power output per channel for Rl = 8-ohm, 1 % THD+N and 10% THD+N in 2ch BTL mode that would be a great start for us.

Thank you, that's a great start. Now if you could just show me the Power output per channel for Rl = 8-ohm, 1 % THD+N and 10% THD+N in 2ch BTL mode that would be a great (i.e. as per Section 7.7).

This plot is exactly the condition you want. The other channel is playing the same power level.
