TAS5825M: Combine features of process flows

Hi TI-team,

I'm working on an amplifier project with tas5825m. Test designs with that amp chip are up and running so far. Now I'm thinking of which process flow to choose.

The problem is, I need various features and there is no process flow which includes all that features. The features I definitely need:

- Hybrid modulation
- Delay
- Dynamic EQs
- AGL
- the option to use more filters for crossover instead of using so much filters for general eqing (for example in 1.1 mode)

Is it possible to combine features of various process flows? Can you give some information about the internal signal routing of the dsp core? With that information it would be possible to configure the needed features with the help of the datasheet.

Hi Markus,

LImited by internal DSP resources, these features cannot be achieved at the same time. Please check the nearest one.

Hi Alix,

the question was if it is possible to combine those features without the limitations of the process flows (in the range of the supplied dsp power).

My output inductors are getting really hot when the amp is in idle for longer times (~1/2 hour --> ~60°C). Therefore I wanted to use the hybrid modulation, because the inductors stay cool with that modulation scheme. Is it possible to realise a level detection with tas5825m to disable the output stage when no signal is present for a few mins (maybe a register to read via i2c and do the control of the stand-bye on the host mcu)?

Hi Markus,

We have integrated level meter to SoC to read out the level of input audio. Hence, your solution needs to be done by SoC.

Actually, it is impossible for TAS5825 itself to do so with current solution.

Further, may you try 1SPW mode?

Hi Alix,

yes I will try the 1SPW modulation.

I checked the level meter in ppc3 software:

w 98 00 00 
w 98 00 01 
r 98 48 04

I also checked the datasheet and process flows documentation for info about the level meter. There is nearly no information. So I need to read register 0x48 on page 0x01 (for left channel)?!

What is the format of that data? Is it a value between -1 and 1 or something in dB? How often is that level value actualised?

Please supply useful information about the level detection feature.

Level meter is in the same format as I2S: data width, valid data etc.
