TAS5825M: A I2S(L/R) combination of two TAS5825

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi Team

Can TAS5825M work as follows and how to configure TAS5825M in this mode?
One I2S output pin with 2 Channels(I2S L/R) from the processor side, I2S_SDO (Left Channel) for the first chip, I2S_SDO (Righ Channel) for the second chip, and then combining the two SDOUT of TAS5825M into one data line, looping back to processor side(I2S_SDI)

Thanks

  • Hi Customer,

    You can configure the input mixer for the left or right channel selection. But here it is recommended to configure as TDM2.

    As to Sdout, output crossbar can output left or right to Sdout.

    If left and right configuration is the same for 2 TAS5825, only difference is left or right. Then you can output both left and right from just one Sdout to SoC.

    If not, they can connect together to CPU with configuratino.

  • Hi Alix

    Due to the limitation of the processor chip, only I2S mode can be selected, the audio from SOC is stereo, and separate routing L/R to two TAS5825 Mono Speaker.

    The expected SDOUT data sequence:

    1st 5825 SDOUT:   I2S(L) -->  HiZ    ---> I2S(L) -->  HiZ        (the audio data only output on I2S Left channel)
    2nd 5825 SDOUT:   Hiz    ---> I2S(R) --> Hiz    ---> I2S(R)     (the audio data only output on I2S Righ channel)

    than connect SDOUT together to CPU, the sequence is I2S(L) --> I2S(R) -->I2S(L) --> I2S(R)

    We use MONO 1.0 PBTL mode in this case to get higher speaker power, but unable to configure output crossbar(MONO 1.0 PBTL) only to left or right I2S of SDOUT via PPC3 GUI.

  • Hi customer,

    In order to achieve:

    1st 5825 SDOUT:   I2S(L) -->  HiZ    ---> I2S(L) -->  HiZ        (the audio data only output on I2S Left channel)
    2nd 5825 SDOUT:   Hiz    ---> I2S(R) --> Hiz    ---> I2S(R)     (the audio data only output on I2S Righ channel)

    you can:

    configure 1st 5825 with left channel from SoC, 2nd 5825 with right channel from SoC. Then in output crossbar, go to Advanced tap.

    1st 5825: input -110dB below I2S right: it means just left comes to left of Sdout;

    2nd 5825: input -110dB below I2S left: it means just right comes to right of Sdout.

    Connect Sdout 1 and Sdout 2 together to SoC's SDIN and try again.

    BR,

    Alix
