TAS5548: DRC function enable/disable

Hello experts,

I have question about TAS5548 DRC function.

Is it possible to switch DRC function enable/disable?

e.g.

1. When system detect the abnormal event like over current at D-AMPS output stage, system enable DRC function

2. After clear the abnormal event, system disable DRC function

Also, if it is possible, would you tell me following point?

-Duration time from DRC disable to DRC enable

-Pop noise during DRC function switching (enable <-> disable)

I would appreciate if you would give me advice.

Hi Akashi-san,

You may try with Register 0x96 and 0x97 to turn on/off DRC function for each independent channel. Regarding the pop noise during the switch, the DRC should handle itself with attack/release rate to smooth the transition. No obvious pop noise is expected.

I understand we can switch DRC function for each channel with Register 0x96 and 0x97.

Regarding "release", is it same as "decay" in datasheet section 7.4.16?

Also, duration time is specified with attack time/decay time in below. Is my understanding correct?

Yes, I was referring to the "decay".

Your understanding is correct. You may go straight forward on test with real music and verify there is no audible pop. Thanks!
