TLV320AIC3120: Application questions

Hello team,

Could you please help me to clarify a couple of things?

  1. If I don't use SPKP/SPKM, is it ok to leave SPKVDD floating?
  2. In this thread, it is mentioned that the unused input should provide ac termination to ground with through 0.47uF cap. Is it OK to change it to 0.1uF?
  3. About the ac coupling cap at MIC input, the DS schematic uses 0.1uF while EVM schematic uses 0.47uF. Is it OK to use 1uF cap for MIC input?

    Please see my answers below:

    1. SPVDD is only used for the Class-D driver so it may be okay to leave floating. I will have to double check with my colleagues on this and will get back to you. 

    2. Yes, 0.1uF is okay to use for unused input termination. 

    3. 0.1uF is okay to use as the AC coupling cap for the MIC input. Note that the value of this capacitor will affect the cutoff frequency of the High-pass filter created with the AC coupling capacitor and the input impedance. Please use the value that best fits your application.

    3. My customer is trying to pick up 1uF, not 0.1uF for better availability. Could please check it again?

    Yes, 1uF is okay. Again, the customer will need to make sure that the high pass filter cutoff frequency is acceptable in their application.

    Leaving SPKVDD powered down if not using the integrated class-D amplifier should be OK.
