Using DIR9001 to extract DTS / AC3 data

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIR9001

Hi,

Does anyone know if the DIR9001 can be used to receive a DTS or AC3 stream from (say) a DVD player, then present the {DTS,AC3} frame data for a host controller (e.g. an FPGA) to decode?

That is, if the not-AUDIO output ("PCM audio data valid") output is inactive, is the audio data output locked to zero or will I see the DTS frame data on the PCM output?

Just to be clear -- I don't want the DIR9001 to decode the DTS stream, I want the compressed "non-linear audio stream" (as termed by IEC 61937) so that I can feed it into an FPGA and do the multi-channel decoding work, then feed the output from that on to a couple of audio-grade D/A converters (probably PCM1793s followed by a filter/buffer block) for output to the speakers.

Thanks,
Phil.
