ADS1291: Temperature measurement

Part Number: ADS1291

Hello,

When we used ADS1291 to measure the temperature with the integrate temperature sensor(CHESET=0x14), as long as the the right leg drive pin was touched(our device has ECG function), and the temperature value is incorrect. The related register of the right leg drive are all closed. Register RLD_SENS(0x06) = 0x00,LOFF_SENS(0x07) = 0x00.

In addition, it has been excluded the ESD reason, when touched the right leg drive, the temperature is always incorrect. The application has ECG function and have RA,LA and RLD electrodes. If touched the right leg drive during temperature test, the temperature is fluctuate randomly, but has no problem  if touched the RA,LA electrodes.

What is the reason? How to solve it? Could you please give me some advice?

Best regards

Kailyn

  • Hi Kailyn,

    Thanks for the post.

The ECG input electrode will be isolated from the device when you enable the internal temperature sensor. You may be injecting significant 50/60Hz power line interference in the system when you touch the RLD electrode, causing the incorrect temperature measurement. Please look at the FFT frequency plot of the ADC output to see if this is the issue. Please share the complete registers setting of the device if possible.

    Thanks
