ADS131A04 power dissipation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS131A04, ADS131E04, ADS131M03, ADS131E08

Hi,

Could you please help to provide power dissipation of below parts at data rate=64kSPS?

  1. ADS131A04, 64kSPS, high-resolution mode

2. ADS131E04, 64kSPS, Normal mode

 3. ADS131M03, 64kSPS, high-resolution mode

  • Hello Jim,

    Thank you for your post.

The nominal supply currents listed in the data sheet can be used as an approximation for 64 kSPS as well. These currents largely depend on how fast the internal digital core and modulator sampling clock are operating and can be the same for multiple data rates. To produce 64 kSPS instead of 8 kSPS, the oversampling ratio (OSR) is reduced by a factor of 8x in the register settings.

I believe the biggest difference in current consumption you can expect will come from the average digital current, which will increase with higher data rates simply because the host processor is communicating with the ADC more frequently. This is highly dependent on the I/O voltage levels, SCLK frequency, frame size, etc. and, therefore, is not very useful for us to measure.

    Regards,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

64kSPS data rate is for single Delta-Signa?

  • Hi Ryan,

    May I have your feedback?

  • Hi Jim,

The ADS131E08 is a simultaneous-sampling ADC, meaning that all channels will convert at the same data rate.
