ADS127L01: General Inquiry

Part Number: ADS127L01
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS127L11

Dear TI Experts,

Please refer to my inquiries below.

1. I am searching for an ALternative IC for ADS127L01, Much cheaper than this one with low noise and low drift 24 bit and fast.
ADS127L01 is costly, so an alternative low cost will do.

2. I am searching for circuits that can measure voltage from 1 mV to 2V
for voltage measurement, like as we have in Multimeters where we measure the high voltage as well as Low Voltage.

3. Is there any way we can control the high voltage(Till 1000V - 3V) and low voltage(1mV - 2V) using a switch from a Microcontroller?
suppose if the voltage is between 2-1000 then it provides the signal to the microcontroller and 1 st path is chosen for measurement and for low voltage measurement second path? Like I guess we can use the parallel connection of 2 switches that can sustain till 1000V.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

JOnard Rico

  • Hi Jonard,

What data rate is needed?  The ADS127L11 is the latest generation device and can support data rates up to 1Msps.

Typically, for multiple ranges, you can use a multiplexer to switch between ranges.  In order to support 1000V, you will need to use a high voltage resistor divider to drop the voltage down to a suitable voltage range for the ADC inputs.

Take a look at this DMM reference design, which shows an example of a DMM high voltage front-end.
