ADS8330: Maximum current consumption of VREF pin

Part Number: ADS8330

Hi Team,

The electrical characteristics table at page 4 of the datasheet shows the voltage reference input of ADS8330 has a resistance of 40k ohm. Our customer would like to know the maximum current consumption of VREF pin including the current consumed by the 40k ohm resistor.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

    The reference input of the ADS8330 is a switched capacitor.  The input resistance is the average input load resistance that the reference output must drive when using the required 22uF reference capacitor.  This input resistance can vary by +/-30% between parts and over temperature.

    The maximum current consumption will occur at the worst case minimum input impedance of 40kOhm-30%, or 28kOhm, and the maximum reference voltage of +VA=5.5V.

    Imax = +VAmax/Rin-min = 5.5/28k = 196.4 microAmp.
