SNR and SFDR data for ADC12DJ5200-SP

I’m hoping to get whatever SNR and SFDR data is available for this chip.  We currently have no data above 8 GHz.  We are only interested in loading levels close to Pclip.  We need SFDR for a spur search within a wide BW (many GHz) of the input tone.  It would also be helpful to have information re. how the spurs fall off with frequency separation from the input tone.

  • Hi Phillip,

Just so we are clear, you are requesting SNR/SFDR performance above 8GHz? If so what range are you asking from/to and we can measure this for you?

Also, please define what is meant by "pclip". Near fullscale of the ADC's input level?

    Regards,

    Rob

  • Hello Rob,

Phillip Feldman is having issues responding on E2E. I have added his new request below.

I did some further thinking and realized that we don't need any data beyond what we already have.  But, I do have a question about the following SFDR numbers that presumably came from TI:

    400 MHz: 65 dBFS

    1 GHz: 64 dBFS

    2.4 GHz: 65 dBFS

    4.2 GHz: 59 dBFS

    6 GHz: 54 dBFS

    8 GHz: 50 dBFS

A sampling rate of 10.4 Gsps corresponds to a Nyquist frequency of 5.2 GHz.  So, what do the SFDR numbers mean at frequencies above Nyquist?

  • Hi Joe,

When the analog input frequency is in 2nd or higher Nyquist zone. The analog signal will alias to first Nyquist zone. For example 6GHz signal will alias down to 6GHz - 5.2GHz =  800MHz.

You can watch this video to further understand how the analog signal alias down depending on the Nyquist zone.
