ADS54J60EVM: ADS54J60EVM + TSW14J56 lower sampling rate with external clock

Part Number: ADS54J60EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS54J60

Hello TI Team,

I am currently working on an acquisition setup involving a pulse generator and a TSW14J56 with an ADS54J60EVM.

My application requires to acquire several millions samples in a burst, synced with a clock from the pulse generator. From the datasheet of the ADS54J60 it appears that the minimum sampling frequency is 250 MHz, but I have been able to make it work at 122.88 MHz using the corresponding firmware.

However, the sampling rate I need is much lower, with a sample very 500 ns to 2 us. What attracted me to the TSW14J56 was the USB3.0 and large RAM available, which would maximum data transfer to the computer.

Is there a way to have this kind of low sampling rate, maybe by skipping some samples either loaded to the RAM or transfered to the PC ?

Is my system way oversized for my application and if this is the case, what would be the configuration you would recommend ?

Thank you in advance,

Best regards.

  • Hi Quentin,

Thank you for your question. I am checking with our team and I will get back to you shortly.

  • For our clarification, it sounds like your application needs to sample between 500 kSPS to 2 MSPS, is this correct? EVM’s around this sampling rate do not use the TSW data capture cards, as they only support very high sampling / GSPS ADCs. If you give us further information about your system application, we can help guide you toward a better product solution.

  • Hi Amy,

Yes we need this kind of sampling range, ideally if we can reach up to 10 MSPS it would be comfortable, but 500 kSPS must be accessible. I can provide you with further informations but I would rather not disclose it publicly on this forum as it concerns confidential R&D development.

Is there any way to discuss by private messages ?

  • Hi Quentin,

I sent you a friend request so that you can private message me to discuss.
