AFE4300: Questions about Weight Scale Front-End

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4300

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the AFE4300's weight scale front-end.

1) The datasheet states that the corner frequency of the antialiasing network should be set so that there is adequate attenuation at the first multiple of the modulator frequency. This means the corner frequency should be set to a value below 250 kHz, correct?

2) The AFE4300EVM connects filters consisting of 10k ohm resistors and 0.1 uF capacitors to the weight signal's inputs. Should the antialiasing network be placed in series with these filters or replace them altogether?

3) It is mentioned in this post that the pull-up resistor on RDY as well as the capacitors at the input pins of the weight signal should be DNI. What is the reason for this?

  • Hello,

    Regarding your questions:

    1. Yes.

    2. The RC network on the weigh scale inputs can be used as AA network.

    3. RDY is not an open drain output hence the pull up resistor is not needed. There are differential caps on the input pins of the weight scale and hence the single ended caps were recommended to be DNI.
