ADS1298: ADS129x: Nature of extended input channels.

Part Number: ADS1298
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1296, ADS1294

Hi there,

I am working on the ADS129x family, and would like to know the nature of extended channels (i.e. IN7 & IN8 in ADS1296 and ADS1294, and IN5 & IN6 in ADS1294). Are they NC? Should they be tied to AVDD or left floating? It would be really great if there would have been internal switches connecting them to the Ch1-4 ADCs and we could use these as extensions.

Looking forward to hearing back soon.

Warm regards,

Abbas Mehdi.

  • Hi Abbas,

    Thanks for the post.

The irrelevant channels for the ADS1296 (IN7/8) and ADS1294 (IN5/6/7/8) or any unused channels should be connected to AVDD if unused. This is because they are not truly NC for the device. Unfortunately, there is no option to use these pins to reroute the signal internally to the CH1-4 ADCs.

    Thanks
