Regarding ADS1230 Reference Input

Kindly reply me for the following:

              I am using ADS 1230, which is powered by a LM7805. REF+, AVDD & DVDD of the ADC & LOAD CELL EXCITATION gets +5V from LM7805. The question is;

   By any chance, if the regulator voltage drops slightly (eg., 5V to 4.85V) due to load(LCD), how the ADC behaves? because, the excitation voltage to load cell also decreases.

Will there be any difference in count?

  • Jayaraj,

    You should always strive for good supply regulation, but to answer your question, if the reference and the excitation are the same they should scale ratio-metrically so that the results are the same.  Noise within your system will be a bigger factor.
