ADS1278EVM-PDK: report errors

Part Number: ADS1278EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADCPRO

Hi team,

I got a question from customer.

The two buttons marked by ADS1278EVM-PDK cannot be selected.

The power supply is correct, and the waveform of drdy is a straight line;

If the clock frequency cannot be adjusted, it will show that it cannot match the available value.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

  • Hello,

This may be a driver issue, although when this occurs, the software does not usually load.

After connecting the ADS1278EVM-PDK, the software should load and the USBStyx driver should be loaded.  Please ask the customer to open 'Device Manager' in Windows and verify that the USBStyx driver has properly installed.

This could also be a hardware configuration error with the wrong jumpers.  Please ask the customer to verify that the jumpers are correctly installed, as shown in Figure 1 and Table 2 of the ADS1278EVM-PDK User's Guide.

  • Hi Nicholas,

    Thank you for your help.

The customer confirmed that there was no problem with the driver. As for the jumper configuration, it was configured at the factory. I also checked it. It's right

The power adapter is 6V, 2a, and the power indicator is normal.

Please help analyze it again, thanks a lot.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Zhonghui,

Please ask the customer to measure the PLL clock generated by the MMB0 motherboard.  You can measure this with a scope probe or logic analyzer; Pin 5, J4 is the PLL CLK output and TP7 is ground.  After the EVM software has been loaded, this clock should be active and measure 32.768MHz.

Also, it appears that this may be a software installation issue.  I suggest uninstalling both the ADS1278EVM-PDK-SW plugin, as well as ADCPro and then re-install both pieces of software.  Make sure you have administrator privilege's when installing the software to ensure all software components are properly installed.

I will ask my colleagues to provide any suggestions as well on this one and reply back to you tomorrow.

    Regards,
    Keith

  • Hi Nicholas,

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Zhonghui,

I discussed this with the team today.  The error message that the customer receives is a result of the GUI not getting data back when it expects it to be available.  If the PLL clock generated on the MMB0 board does not work, then this would be the expected error.

If re-loading the software does not work, then at this point, I think the hardware is at fault.

I suggest you send a new EVM to the customer; hopefully this will correct the problem.  I do not have any other suggestions at this time.

    Regards,
    Keith
