DAC088S085: ABS max spec

Part Number: DAC088S085

Hello support team,

My customer is evaluating DAC088S085 now and they see voltage undershoot under abs max spec -0.3V. But datasheet also has input current spec max 30mA. This looks like that even if input voltage goes below -0.3V, if the flown current is less than 10mA, DAC088S085 could be safe. Is their understanding correct? They need to clarify if the device with undershoot on input pin is safe or not.

Thanks,

Koji Ikeda

  • Hi Ikeda-san,

Operating the device beyond any of the max ratings is not recommended and can cause performance degradation over time. Note 4 means that if the voltage is outside the max rating, then the current should be limited to 10mA. In this case the esd cells will activate and the device will recover when the voltage returns to a safe value. If the current exceeds 10mA then the esd cells may be damaged and permanent device damage can occur.

    Best,

    Katlynne
