DAC80508: digital GND or analog GND

Part Number: DAC80508

Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

Should DAC80508‘s GND pin connected to the digital ground of MCU or the analog ground of analog output?
Because there is only one GND on this IC, could the serial signal go back to the MCU's DGND through GND and then though magnetic beads?

Thanks so much.

Best regards,
Yuki

  • Hi Yuki,

It is most critical to connect the GND pin to the AGND of the system.  There will be digital return currents, so you should have a path to the digital ground near the device.  This could be a ferrite bead.

    Thanks,

    Paul
