ADS1299: Current leakage on multi channel application in a common reference mode

Part Number: ADS1299

Hello!

The targeted device has 48 channels, 8 differential, 32 common reference, and 8 general-purpose channels. With differential channels all good. Troubles begin with EEG channels that has a common reference, when i increase the number of recorded channels, i am having an increased noise on each channel. I presume this is caused by an increase in the input current when the negative inputs are combined

Kindly help me to deal with this problem.

  • Hi Valentyn,

Welcome to the E2E forum !!!

It is a possibility that the increase in the input leakage current noise on the input causing higher noise. You can verify this by experimenting with the number of channels connected to the negative inputs. The single-end input configuration will be more susceptible to any interference noise compared to the differential input configuration. It is crucial that all the layout precaution is taken to minimize any crosstalk or imbalance noise interference.

    Thanks

  • Sorry to reply you late, forgot to thank you for the help, the real problem was in the noise from the power line, I figured that i simply needed to make a "clear" power source, since my device is USB powered.

  • Hi Valentyn,

I am glad that you are able to identify the issue.

    Thanks
