ADS8689: 5V on SPI pins?

Part Number: ADS8689

Team,

Due to an error in the power tree the SPI signals (SCLK, CS and SDI) are powered with 5V instead of 3.3V.
Is it a must to fix the power tree? Or is it acceptable to power SPI with 5V?

The ADS8689 datasheet gives the below Abs max rating and recommended operating conditions:

Thanks in advance,

A.

  • Hi AnBer,

The DVDD of ADS8689 can be +5V without any issue as along as your AVDD is +5V and also your microcontroller has a +5v logic for its SPI bus.

The +3.3V is the recommendation as most microcontroller has a +3.3V logic level for SPI.

The ADC will not be damaged if the absolute voltage on the DVDD is less than +7V.

    Best regards,

    Dale
