DAC101C085: I2C Bus Clear function

Hi team,

My customer is asking whether DAC101C085 has "Bus Clear" function or not, which defined as 3.1.16 Bus clear in NXP UM10204.

If not, please let me know an equivalent function at DAC101C085.

If the data line (SDA) is stuck LOW, the controller should send nine clock pulses.
The device that held the bus LOW should release it sometime within those nine clocks.
If not, then use the HW reset or cycle power to clear the bus.

Hi Tatsumi-san,

The DAC would usually hold the SDA line low if it is attempting to write data. In that case the DAC would expect an ACK from the controller within 9 clock pulses. If the DAC doesn't receive the ACK then it should release the bus. This isn't necessarily a feature built into the DAC. If for some reason the SDA line is not released after the 9 clock pulses, then the customer should power cycle the DAC.

The customer needs to know whether "DAC101C085" has bus clear function or not in specific. This is an important information at software coding on MCU. If DAC101C085 doesn't have this function, they need to implement power cycling function to the software.

No, there is not a built in feature that guarantees the DAC will respond after 9 clock cycles if the SDA line is stuck low. The customer should add the power cycling function if this is a concern.
