DAC104S085: Questions about Power Supply Recommendation section of DAC104S085 datasheet.

Part Number: DAC104S085

Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using DAC104S085CIMM/NOPB for their new products.
At this moment, they have a few questions about Power Supply Recommendation section on page 22 of DAC104S085 datasheet(ver. SNAS362G) as the follows.
Could you please give me your reply for them?

Q1. The section says that the 10-µF capacitor should be a tantalum type and the 0.1-µF capacitor must be a low ESL, low ESR type.
What is the reason which tantalum type is recommended?

Q2. When 10-uF ceramic capacitor is used instead of the 10-uF tantalum capacitor, is there any bad effect?

Q3. When only 0.1-uF ceramic capacitor without 10-uF tantalum or ceramic capacitor is used , is there any bad effect?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Kazuya.

  • Hi,

    For all the questions,

You can use a 0.1uF capacitor for VA pin and another 0.1uF for the REFIN pins if both are powered separately. In-case if you are shorting VA and REFIN together, I suggest place a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor close to the pins and another 1uF-10uF ( Ceramic or tantalum) capacitor also.

    Regards,
