ADS4249EVM: Cannot connect to TI GUI through USB

I cannot get the TI GUI to connect to the EVM board to configure the ADC. (The USB status will not turn green even after resetting it)
It is not the USB cable or the drivers.

[I have gotten the TI GUIs to connect to both DAC3482EVM and TSW1400EVM boards]

I have set all of the jumpers as indicated in Table 1 of SLAU333A.
I also noticed that this table is inconsistent with the schematic for jumpers JP17, JP19, JP28 and JP29, but I have tried it both ways to no avail.

Please advise.

Can you double check that the part shows up in the device manager on your PC?

Yes, it shows up in the device manager as "USB Serial Converter."

Hi Seth,

Can you check that the board is getting 5V? You can probe J10.

I am supplying 5V to J10 as the Users Guide indicates.

Can you comment on the jumper positions listed in Table 1 of the User Guide?

Hi Seth,

You are correct that the schematic and the user guide have different jumper settings, which is noted in the user guide:

Please try right clicking and running the GUI ‘as admin’.

I saw that note. Those aren't the jumpers I am talking about. I asked about JP17, JP19, JP28 and JP29.

How do I right click to run as admin? I don't get that option when I right click.

The user guide also says this: "● Device Selection: Select ADS58C28 or ADS42xx for proper operation." And I don;t see anywhere to make that selection on the GUI.

Hi Seth,

By default, the board is shipped in parallel mode. SPI requires that jumpers on JP8, JP9, JP10, and JP11 be shunted on pins 2-3.

Next, please download FT_Prog to double check that the device was properly enumerated. The attached test procedure will show you how to apply the FTDI Template. Once you have programmed the template, try connecting to GUI and let us know if you run into issues.

YEah, I got it on JP8, JP9, JP10 and JP11.

Please comment on table 1 of the user guide showing different settings than the schematic for JP17, JP19, JP28, and JP29.
They are also different on slide 5 of the presentation you sent me, which also shows different settings for JP18, JP23, JP24, and JP25.

Hi Seth,

Regarding JP17, JP19, JP28, and JP29 – The jumpers can be set to either go through the LDO’s, or bypass the LDO’s and go through DC-DC switches. The users guide recommends that the jumpers are set to go through the LDO’s. Although the LDO jumper settings should not impact the GUI’s communication with the board, it is recommended to following the jumper configuration in the users guide.

Slide 5 has the jumper setting configured per the user’s guide for JP18, JP23, JP24, and JP25, with the jumpers shorted across pins 1-2.
