Hi,

I am looking for a single or multi channel PAL/NTSC video decoder which can decode the analog video and convert to 8/12/16 raw parallel data

I am confused with extensive set of data converters, could not filter properly

important point is i need HSYNC, VSYNC,PCLK outputs with out miss in the decoder, with out which i cannot interface to other converter in my design.

Kindly suggest a best fit IC which is recommended for new designs.

but why sclk is two times pclk, i need plck with out multiplication

i wish to use this is with a cypress usb converter to create a video class device, it requires a pclk straight away

can you please let me know a way ?

Hi Shyam,

Ok, so I should have asked what exact output format do you need? Please also provide the cypress usb reference you're planning on using.

As you mentioned 8bit was an option, I figured YCrCb with slck=2xpxlk was an option.

One of the key difference between TVP515x and TVP514x is that TVP515x only output "multiplexed 8bit stream" YCrCb in the sequence YcrYcb... one pixel "correspond to 1sample a Y and 1sample of either Cr or Cb, hence Slck is twice the pixel clock. the TVP514x supports 16-20bit "demultiplexed" Y on 8bits / Cr on another 8bits.

Dividing the clock by 2 is feasible but likely is not the solution.

I am trying to use infenions(cypress) FX3 chipset which is designed for applications of UVC Video Class

My plan is to interface a PAL to Digital Converter, when asked with FX3 Apps team, they said any IC with paralle video output which has HSYNC, VSYNC and PCLK can be used, they wont support standards like BT656 which has embedded sync.

Coming to my application, my PAL video is not a color video, its just a graysclae data so i assume 8 bit is sufficient, its ok even if it is 16bit, i dont need any YCbYCr data, just luminance data is sufficient but with better bit depth.

From my survey, https://www.ti.com/product/TVP5150AM1-EP seems best fit as it has direct PCLK output and Y[8:0] option

just let me know if i picked the right option.

Hello Shyam,

Indeed, TVP5151 is the most recent and lower cost (?) version of the family, I dont think it supports Y output only a Pclk. hence the TVP5150 or TVP514x are your best best. try to avoid the EP variants unless you are in an harsh environment. https://www.ti.com/product/TVP5150AM1
