TMDSEVM6657: Using EVM with TMDXEVMPCI

We are using the TMDSEVM6657 in our development. I would like to use it to exercise the PCIe but I’m told that the connections for PCIe on that board are to the AMC (card edge) connector. I did also come across the TMDXEVMPCI AMC to PCIe Adapter card. That looked hopeful but on that one the supported products list does not include the 6657. Is there a version that works with the 6657, or a workaround? Is it possible to use this adapter card with that Evaluation board?

We did obtain the parts, put them together and attempted to test in both a windows and Linux pc but had no luck. I did learn about an issue with ATX PCs and the workaround was downgrading the FPGA. this did not work either. Any ideas? The parts just simply will not enumerate.

We are not attempting to install the cards in the same PC where the SDKs are installed. We are installing it in a completely different PC that does not have the SDK installed. We also tested it in a Linux pc that also has no TI software installed.

Dear Sitara team,

From customer:

If I’m reading that correctly, it looks like you can still get the PCIe device (DSP) to enumerate under Windows and read config space even without a Windows driver. I think at this point we’d be happy if we could get that far in either Windows or Linux but haven’t seen it enumerate under either OS.

Please provide guidance how to get the PCIe device to enumerate.

Background of the issue and things customer tried already are in this thread.

The expansion board is a third party solution. Have you reached out to the solution provider ?

Hi Kallikuppa,

Thanks for that link, it turns out that our main problem was the clock. We still did not get windows to enumerate the EVM but we got beyond the link training, and the test code ran correctly on the DSP. Our solution was to place the card in a PC where the spread spectrum clock could be disabled.

There might still be some minor configuration issues blocking the enumeration but we're going to call this good and move on. Thanks for all the help and if we encounter any other issues we know where the experts are.
