DAC8820: Absolute maximum rating

Part Number: DAC8820

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for missing details for DAC8820ICDBR. Can you please provide the absolute maximum ratings for the following: Vdd , Vref and Power Dissipation?

Looking at the datasheet, a formula has been given for power dissipation, but the Ta value is not given in the abs max rating, however, the operating temperature range is given. Is it correct to consider this as the Ta?

In addition, The Vdd to GND (-0.3 to +7) is given on the Absolute rating but the Vref is missing. but the range is given on the electrical characteristic section, I understand that this is the operating condition, however, can the customer consider this as absolute as well?.

I hope you can help clarify.

Thanks!

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

    1. The VDD limits are listed in the table.

    2. the REF pin's limits are listed in the forth row, which I have highlighted.

    3. The operating temperature range can be considered the TA limits.  The abs. max. junction temperature is significantly higher, so the equation is really just showing that if your TA is 85°C, you must limit the power dissipation such that the device does not exceed the TJ max.

    Thanks,

    Paul
