Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3543

Hi,

Good Day. Customer is looking for the TI's alternative for ADC3543 and TDA8762M4. Is there any available TI device for the replacement?

Also, can you help us to confirm that there isn't an ADC with one clock cycle conversion? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Are you asking if the ADC3543EVM would be alternative for the TDA8762M4? Could you share the desired sampling rate? Are you looking for a flash-architecture ADC?

    Regards, Amy

  • Hi Amy,

Good Day. Customer is looking for the alternative for TI's ADC3543 and Philips' TDA8762M4, not ADC3543 as an alternative for TDA8763M4. Also, is there any TI ADC that has one clock cycle conversion application? Please advise. Thank you very much.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Without knowing the application details, we cannot provide an alternative for the ADC3543 aside from blindly suggesting the other devices in the ADC35XX/ADC36XX device families. Many devices in this device family supports 1 clock cycle conversion. This conversion is described as latency and will vary based on the selected operational mode.

We cannot find much information on the TDA8762M4. We understand that it is a 10-bit 80 MSPS device. Can you share details from the customer regarding the BW and interface requirements? This will help greatly in being able to provide an alternative.

    Thanks, Chase

  • Hi Chase,

Good Day. Please see below the latest response of our customer to your request. Thank you very much.

I had a meeting in house regarding your last response and we have investigated the ADC35XX/ADC36XX family and they indeed do meet our requirements (40+MSPS, Noise floor @ -150dBFS/Hz, 900MHz input Bandwidth, and package). Please see the three best candidates below:

The dual ADC version. It has a very close pinout but not drop in as it has 2x ADC inputs and 14bit CMOS output.

    www.ti.com/.../ADC3643

16bit version single ADC input version BUT it is the one that has the LVDS output bus

    www.ti.com/.../

2X ADC input and LVDS output.

Can you please help us understand a roadmap on which ADC(From the 3 mentioned above) most companies are using? We want to make sure we implement an ADC design with the most popular and available chip so that the design/bom will be usable for as long as possible.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

The ADC's you mention here are all recently released, so there is not an issue with support being available. These parts also all have a latency of one clock cycle. Let us know if the customer has any specific questions.
