DAC8775: Regarding Calibration

Hi team,

  1. Does DAC8775 offer individual channel calibration or all channels share the same calibration data? I notice there is only one register for gain and offset respectively, common for all the channels? 
  2. If yes to Q1, all the channels share the common calibration data, how much offset/gain error will there be on the other 3 channels relative to the selected channel with optimized calibration?

    The DAC8775 has individual channel calibration available for each of the channels. It is set similar to the DAC DATA Register. You first select the channel and then set the data. The channel is selected through the DAC Register 0x03, and then you would write to the Gain Calibration and Offset Calibration registers at 0x09 and 0x0A.

    • Can customer choose to calibrate only one channel and copy the calibration data to other 3 channels?
    • Will this help improve the accuracy of other 3 channels or not at all? 
      • If yes, what will be the expected error with respect to the calibrated channel? 
      • If no, I guess we should just suggest customer not implement such calibration.

    The gain error and offset will be independent from channel to channel. Because of this, the gain and offset calibration values would likely be different for each channel. I would not expect one channel calibration to help the other channel calibrations.
