ADS1198: ADS1198 EVM GUI is not showing any data except noise with or without electrodes.

Part Number: ADS1198

Hello,

I have ADS1198ECG-FE Evaluation Board along with motherboard MMB0.

I am trying to test the whole setup on ADS1198 EVM GUI. I have DYNATECH NEVADA 215A patient Simulator.

Also i am using power adapter of 5V.

When i connect the EVM without any Electrode probe at J1, and if i check lead off it shows

Lead Off status

and the Data rate is 500SPS and 1000 samples/Channel.

So as soon as i click Acquire.

The data rate goes to 125SPS and 1000samples/channel remains same.

After data acquired, and if i see in analysis, scope it shows.

Scope

This is what is see. seems nothing in this.

After i connect the Electrodes through Simulator.

the lead off detection shows

Lead off

and the signal on the scope at 125SPS and 1000 sample/channel.

With probe

This clearly shows no information.

also i tried to see the signals by changing 10000 samples/channel.

This also donot have any information.

at 10000

and if i zoom out the signal

If you have doubt that my simulator is not working then i have checked it on CRO. i was able to get signals.

Simulator

So, is there anything that i am doing wrong, kindly help me out.

I have minimized the variables but yet i am unable to get the data ECG signals on my GUI.

  • Hello md adil,

Could you share your register configuration and settings pages? This would help us check if something was configured incorrectly.

    Kind regards,
    Nick Z

  • Hello,

So, i believe upto here there was no issue !!!

Here are the Register configuration and setting pages you asked for.

Kindly let me know if anything is required.

  • Hi md adil,

Your inputs are currently all shorted. When inputs are shorted, they won't be taking in any signal. Please switch them to "normal electrode" if you'd like to be receiving a signal on those channels.

    Kind regards,
    Nick Z

  • Okay, So i got it the output by Configuring the Channel Input control in Globally Set Channels to Normal Electrode.

My Eval board, Electrode and the simulator all are working fine.

    So, it says that

By default, the EVM powers up with the individual channels to an internal short with a data rate of 500SPS
and a PGA gain of 6. Once the Acquire button is pressed, the Scope Analysis should reflect input referred
    VPP values less than 5μVPP.

If I replace the MMBO with Arduino or Some other microcontroller and make SPI connections, means it will show me the default Shorted output ?

If so, What i need to do to see normal ECG output ?

  • Hi,

Can you open another ticket for further question as the issue of this ticket/thread topic has been resolved.

    Thanks

  • Yes, I will do it.

But isn't there any faster route for communication in forum. As it takes 24 hrs. to get any input. and if something like addition information required or another ticket required wastes around 2 days !!!!!!

  • Hi,
    Excuse us for the waiting.
The reasons for the 24 to 48 hour wait time might be due to the following reasons -

    1. Time zone difference. We are located in Texas, United States
    2. We have limited staff and are simultaneously working/helping/servicing more than tens of different customers.
    3. The reasons to suggest open a new ticket is to better help all different companies and customers to manage, search and look up answers/solutions for different issues; instead of looking for a specific answer in a less related/relevant topic/title.

Suggestions to your further questions were already replied in the new ticket/thread you opened.

    Thanks,
