ADS1299-4: How should I wire redundant channels which aren't on the 4-channel chip, channels 5 - 8.

Part Number: ADS1299-4

Hi,

We are currently using the ADS1299-8 channel and have populated all 8 channel inputs using an RC circuit, as per the datasheet.

We would like to swap out the 8 channel with a 4 channel chip (ADS1299-4) and would like to know if we need to update our PCB layout.

1. Is it ok to have an RC circuit on pins IP5 - IP8?  An example of this circuitry is highlighted in yellow:

2. What's the recommended method of wiring IP5 - IP8 and IN5 - IN8 on the ADS1299-4?

Regards,

Faisal

  • Hello Faisal,

I recommend tying the the unused input pins for the ADS1299-4 to AVSS. If they're connected to extra circuitry or GND, they'll be more likely to parasitically increase power consumption. Leaving the RC circuitry connected to those pins isn't going to be a problem, just not recommended.

    Kind regards,
    Nick Z.
