ADS124S08: ADS124S08 - Partial (Analog) power down

Part Number: ADS124S08

Hello,

Is it safe, for the device, to be placed in partial power-down: DVDD = IOVDD = 3.3 V while AVDD = AVSS = 0V, main part of the time?

Then, when the analog conversion is requested the device would be powered-up: DVDD = IOVDD = 3.3 V while AVDD = +2.5 V and AVSS = -2.5 V.

The datasheet specifies " AVDD and DVDD may be powered up in any order." Is it safe keeping Analog supply at 0 V while Digital and IO supplies are set long time?

Thanks,

  • Hi Michael,

Welcome to the E2E forum!  It is possible for you to place the device in partial power down by turning off the analog supplies.  When you do so, the device will be placed and held in a reset state until all supplies are at nominal operating voltage.  This means when the analog supply is turned on, the register settings and device operation will be in the default configuration.  Any previous register settings will no longer be valid and will be at default values.

    Best regards,

    Bob B
