DAC7573: The difference between TR and DR

Hi Team,
I have several questions about the DAC7573.
There is a temporary storage register (TR) and a DAC register (DR) for setting the output voltage. Are they volatile and non-volatile, respectively, or are they both volatile?
In the explanation of power-on reset, the DAC register is filled with zero and the output voltageis 0V on power up.
I want to power up with the output voltage set in the register, but if this is not possible, what is the difference between TR and DR?
If I don't use an external timing signal for updating, is the LDAC pin connected to either VDD or GND? Or does it keep open?

Hi Nakayama-san,

They are both non-volatile. TR and DR are used when LDAC is used. You can write the DAC data for each channel to the TR registers, and then all of the TRs will be loaded to the DRs for each channel at the same time on the LDAC positive edge. This would be used if you needed the DACs to update at the same time. Otherwise there would be a small delay between each channel update as you are writing each data value via I2C.

Keep LDAC pulled to VDD if you are not using it.

If you need a DAC with non-volatile memory then you can take a look at the DAC63204. It is also a 12-bit, 4-channel device.

Your reply is both non-volatile. But, from the context after that, they seem to be volatile.

Yes, my mistake. DAC7573 TR and DR are both volatile.

The DAC63204 does have non-volatile memory.
