ADS1298R: Lead Inquiry

Part Number: ADS1298R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292R

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

My question is about a lead number,  ADS1298R, which supports up to 12 leads and is programable, but can I use that with only 3 leads similar to ADS1292R?
if yes, please tell me about programing this chip? how and for what ? is there any possibility that I use this chip as Micro-processor at the same time with ECG or not?

Thank you in advance for the usual support.

Regards,

CSC

  • Hi,

Yes, ADS1298R can be used for only 3 leads.

Customer will need to refer to ADS1298R datasheet page 25 Section 9.2 Functional Block Diagram and Page 65  Section 9.6 Register Maps to enable the channels/Programmable Gain Amp they want to use to acquire the signals, and disable the channels/Programmable Gain Amp that they don't want to use.

Customer will need to use either uController or FPGA as Master device to program/communicate/interface/control ADS1298R by SPI protocol listed in datasheet page 59 section 9.5 Programming as well as meet the timing diagram requirement in page 17 section 7.6 and 7.7.

ADS1298R is a chip(Instrumentational Amp + ADC) to acquire and amplify ECG signals and converts analog signals to digital values. It may not be used as uController nor processor as it doesn't have that kind of architecture nor computing power.

    Thanks,
