ADS1158EVM-PDK: Is the ADCPro plugin installer broken?

Part Number: ADS1158EVM-PDK

I've downloaded the ADS1158EVM-PDK-SW-installer.exe file from the product page here: https://www.ti.com/tool/ADS1158EVM-PDK#order-start-development and the plug installation fails every time due to what seems like a missing exe in the appdata temp directory.

The installer fails with the following error (screenshot below):

"

Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly

Unknown error while running C:\Users\Dominik.Figueroa\AppData\Local\Temp\ADS1158\ads1158-adcproplugin-2.0.0.exe

"

Checking the temp directory it seems that the .exe the installer is looking for does not exist.

What makes me believe the installer is broken is that I can install other plugins just fine. I was able to install the ADS1258EVM plugin using the ADS1258EVM-PDK-SW-installer without any problems. While the 1258 plugin was installing I was able to verify that the ADS1258\ads1258-adcproplugin-2.0.0.exe file does exist in the temp appdata directory. So it looks like 1158 installer is not putting the correct file in the temp appdata directory.

  • Hi Dominik,

Welcome to the TI E2E Forums.

I tried running the ADS1158EVM-PDK-SW installer on my end and didn't observe this issue, the named file was present in the temporary folder. Would you be able to locate the installation log file and share that to see if that provides any additional information that would help me troubleshoot this issue?

After the installer runs there should be an installLog.txt file in the installation folder:

If you do NOT see that file then look for a text file named bitrock_installer<_#>.log in the Temp folder.

    Best regards,
    Chris

  • Thanks for looking into it!

The installation folder does not get created. I was able to find the bitrock install log file though, and have attached it to this post.

Something else that's interesting is I've started getting this error pop up when I moved the installer .exe from my downloads directory to somewhere else on my C drive. Retrying just causes the error to pop up over and over again. I've also tried re-downloading the installer .exe file and still the same errors occur.

  • Hi Dominik,

Thanks for the extra info! Very odd, I can't say I've seen this kind of error before...Is it possible you have an anti-virus program that could be flagging and blocking the copying of "ads1158-adcproplugin-2.0.0.exe" to the temporary folder?

One thing I can look into would be signing the "ads1158-adcproplugin-2.0.0.exe" file and releasing an updated installer with the signed filed to see if that helps. I'll let you know once that is available to download.

    Best regards,
    Chris
