ADS7028: Once again another TI part with no source code support

Part Number: ADS7028
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLA2518, , ADS7038

Another user asked about a source code example for this part. That thread is locked (not sure why). So starting a new one

In the last month I have had 2 projects both using a TI ADC's.

#1) TLA2518

#2) ADS7028

Neither of them had a source code example. I find this absolutely pitiful that TI cannot provide code to support your customers.

Obviously you had to write code to test it, so share it. Even something basic would help speed things up. When TI does respond to these requests the answer saying there is a .h file available.

That just makes it worse. Because we know since you have a header file, your MUST have source as well, but not willing to share it. Just makes NO SENSE!!!

  • James,

We did a search and found source code on a very similar device.   The ADS7038 has code and this device is very similar to the ADS7028 https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sbac294.  Providing example source code is definitely and area we need to improve on.  We are currently making an effort to provide more code examples for legacy devices and also for new devices.  My apologies for this shortcoming.  To let you know, we test these devices with pattern generator type equipment, so frequently we do not have microcontroller source code.  I only mention this as I want you to know we would provide it if we had it.  I hope the ADS7038 code is useful to you.

    Best regards,

    Art

  • I decided to go with a AD7328. FWIW, this is how a products page should be. Even has sources and so much more. Unlike Ti's pages.
