TSW14J56EVM: Generating amplitude modulated square pulses in time domain

Hi All,

We are using TSW14J56EVM to generate pulse patterns for the DAC3XJ8XEVM. Looking into the reference : https://www.terraelectronica.ru/pdf/show?pdf_file=%252Fpdf%252Fcache%252F88%252F88c99c8bac0b5759fc1fe3a019e4f259.pdf there are ways enlisted to generate .tsw files using Matlab extensions, but all of them plot in frequency domain and did not seem to have the option of generating continuous waveform consisting of multiple pulses with different amplitudes. Is there any way to generate continuous square pulses/ set of square pulses with each pulse having different amplitude in time domain? Thanks for your help.

Hi Vaibhav,

Unfortunately, this is not possible with the tools we have.

You would have to create a custom test pattern using something like Matlab.

Thanks for your response, Rob.

Could you point me to some resources/tutorial or examples for creating such custom patterns, not specifically square pulses but any custom patterns. I will try to look into this myself as well, but a starting point or any help from your side would be invaluable in these regards. Thanks again for the help.

Hi Vaibhav,

The best way to tackle this is to create the waveform using Matlab, Python, Excel or other SW tools handy. Then import this csv file into HSDCPro, There is an import file button on the DAC page.

First, however, create a simple DAC pattern/signal to export to the DAC, say like a 10MHz sinewave. Then save off this csv file from HSDCPro, so you have the file format appropriate to import when you are ready to try your pulsed signal.
