DM365/368 capturing 1xNTSC and 1x1080 video stream options

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158, TVP7002

Hi,

I am looking at capturing a single NTSC/PAL RS-170M (720x480@30Hz) and HD 1080i/p source and feed that to a DM365 or DM368 processor.

Capturing NTSC is the easy part, using a DM365 + TVP5158 which can accept say 2-ch D1 in pixel interleaved mode (TVP5158 datasheet, page 23).  This is easy since the TVP5158 is a 4-channel NTSC/PAL video decoder using BT.656 or some other pixel interleaving mode.

As for the HD video, the TVP7002 fits the bill and spits out HD video over 16/20bit YCbCr or BT.1120.  The 7002 can accept SD video as well, but from looking at the datasheet you can only select 1 input at a time.

To me it seems like I can't provide both at the same time via something elagant as the TVP5158.  Are there any suggestions?

  • Hi,

As you rightly mentioned, TVP7002 is a single input ADC and cannot take both the channels. I am not aware of a mechanism that can do a multiplexing of two different resolutions.

I am moving the post to Video Converters forum. Possibly somebody can answer it there. Please note that the max input pixel clock that can be supported on DM365 is around 120MHz. This means we can not do 1080P30 + 1080P30 (assuming we could keep D1 as active data and rest as blanking).

    Regards,
