ADS8860EVM-PDK: minimum sampling rate on GUI software

Part Number: ADS8860EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8860

Hello, I am using ADS8860EVM-PDK board and its software.

I saw that power dissipation of ADS8860 is 55µW at 10kSPS on ADS8860 datasheet, so I expect to set the sampling rate at 10kSPS.

However, when I used ADS8860EVM GUI software, I cannot set sampling rate for under 20kSPS.

How can I set the sampling rate under 20kSPS?

  • Hello,

This may be a limitation on the GUI, and not the device. I will need to get hold of the hardware to test out the GUI to confirm if and how this is possible, please allow some days.

The GUI can set the sampling rate and clock frequency, which are codependent, these variable will need to be changed to achieve this

    Regards, Cynthia

  • Ok, I want to set the sampling rate at 1kHz on GUI.

Would you fix the problem as soon as possible?

    Regards, Inhwan

  • If this is a limitation on the GUI, there will be no modifications to the GUI to achieve a slower sample rate.

I have not received the EVM just yet, once I do, I will confirm and update you

  • Hello,

I have received the hardware and tested the GUI, and it can achieve 20Khz sampling rate using a minimum of 4Mhz clock rate or above

It does seem this is the lowest the GUI can support. This is a limitation implemented due to the communications cards, the hardware cannot support the data transfer and processing at this speed, and thus the GUI was limited to hardware.

    Apologies for this inconvenience

    Regards

    Cynthia
