TSC2007: Problem regarding sensitivity & detection

Part Number: TSC2007

Hi Team,

My customer is facing an issue with the TSC2007. There seems to be some problems regarding sensitivity and detection. When they try to draw a straight line on the touch screen, they get additional outliers. I

If my description wasn't clear, they get something like this when they try to draw straight line.

Besides that, especially on the corners, the sensitivity is so low that they really have to apply some force in order to get a response.

  • Please do the following:

    1. Power on the Touch Controller Vdd through a Bench DC Supply. turn off any switching regulators on the board. Check if performance is better with this power up scheme.

    2. With DC Power Supply powering device:  Place x+,x-,y+,y- on the 4 channels of an oscilloscope. The diagram shows the operation when trying to read y position. When Y+ is High and Y- is Low the level on X+ is the Y position while moving finger from top to bottom of screen. For 3.3v supply ,X +should be moving from 0v to 3.3v as we move finger along Y axis of screen.

When X+ is High and X- is Low the level on Y+ is the X position while moving finger from Left to Right of screen. For 3.3v supply ,Y+should be moving from 0v to 3.3v as we move finger along X axis of screen.

Please see on oscilloscope if we can see the X and Y movements as described. Also measure the frequencies of X+and Y+.

This should tell us if the chip is actually driving correct waveforms.

    3. I am trying to locate if anyone at TI Has information regarding drivers.

  • Kindly offer the following info.

    1) Operating system

    2) its version.

    3) Where the driver download.

    Thanks.
