ADS1274: Depopulating unused channels - how to best terminate?

Part Number: ADS1274
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4521

I have a 4 channel design using the suggested THS4521 at each channel input per the datasheet.   I no longer need 3 of the channels and the THS4521 is nearly impossible to find.  I plan to DNP all components for channels 2-4, but would like to still properly terminate the newly unused inputs.  I'm not going to redesign the circuit board, but given the suggested schematic from the datasheet, what would be the best way to deal with these channels assuming the THS4521 is no longer populated on the board.

  • Hello Shawn,

The inputs can float in this case.  I would also suggest that you power-down the unused channels as well.

Another option is to tie unused inputs to ground if you are required to terminate pins, but I do not see an easy way to do this without adding a wire jumper or a change to your board.
