DAC81404: Timing in Daisy Chain (Write only) ?

Part Number: DAC81404

Hello,

In my application I want to use a daisy-chain of four DAC81404.
I will only perform write operations, no readback.

In this case, which of the timing specs from the datasheet apply?

"Read and Daisy Chain" as per table 7.8-7.11
or
"Write" as per table 7.6 and 7.7

Do I understand the wording correctly, that "Read and Daisy Chain" includes these 3 cases:

  • reading without daisy-chain
  • reading with daisy-chain
  • writing with daisy-chain

and "Write" means only writing without daisy chain?
I am not sure I understand the wording unambigously.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,
Marcel

  • Hi Marcel,

Yes, your understanding is correct. Refer to sections 7.8, 7.9, 7.10, and 7.11 (based on your IOVDD and FSDO selection) for the timing characteristics for reading without daisy chain, or reading/writing with daisy chain. Reading and reading/writing with daisy chain all use the SDO pin so the timing requirements are limited by the speed of the SDO pin. Writing without daisy chain does not require the use of the SDO pin.
